I am still sending out queries and synopses and sample chapters. Here’s a new synopsis (with a few spoilers). Let me know what you think.
After being laid off from her dream job as a journalist in Houston, 26-year-old Jessica Hart returns to the small town where she grew up, Grace, Texas. A year later, Jess is working as a church secretary, but her heart isn’t in it. She also writes a lifestyle blog, Jess Sayin’, which has a good size following among the locals.
When Doris Sanders, her boss at the Church, fires her just before New Year’s Eve, Jess is hurt and angry. She unleashes her fury in her blog with email copies going out to all the church members. The next morning, the backlash against Jess is brutal. It seems the whole town is against her.
On New Year’s Day, Doris body is found on the church lawn with her skull crushed. Jess is suspect number one. Her well-meaning father hires a lawyer who is none other than Jess’ ex-husband Jack. Just as they are rekindling their feelings for each other, his pregnant fiancé shows up in Grace.
Amidst all the drama, Jess has to find the real killer to clear her name and find out what’s really going on. Before too long, there’s another body found at the church. Can Jess crack the case before the killer cracks her in the head?
